Don’t Use A Budget!

Don’t Use a Budget

Every week was the same. 40 hours at my job, come home, try to get everything done around the house in the evenings, spend some time with my Prince Charming, try and spend time with some friends on the weekends and serve in my church on Sundays. Then repeat it all over again.

I was tired, I wasn’t getting MY THINGS done and I really wanted to be a blessing to others and yet I was just TO BUSY! My dream was to quite that job and be able to be a stay at home wife. It’s what I thought about, dreamed about and longed for every.single.day!

So here is my advice if you are feeling the same way about a dream that you have right now.

  • Don’t Use a Budget if you want to keep doing the same daily grind.
  • Don’t Use a Budget if you like living paycheck to paycheck.
  • Don’t Use a Budget if you enjoy fighting about money every time the Credit Card bills show up.
  • Don’t Use a Budget if you want to keep dreaming but never accomplishing your goals.
  • Don’t Use a Budget if you enjoy purchasing things on the credit card and paying for it after you have thrown it away.
  • Don’t Use a Budget if Christmas spending is frustrates you when the season should be fun and full of joy.

Don’t let making a living prevent you from making a life.

Rule No.1: Never lose money. Rule No.2: Never forget rule No.1.

But if you want to ENJOY your life and reach your goals you have to use a budget!

When we decided that I was going to stay home I got very serious about our budget. Because things were going to change, we were going to be living off my husband’s salary and we also had school loans that were going to come due.

Our budget was NOT a death sentence to having fun.

Never spend your money before you have earned it.

What it did do was show us how much was going to debt, fixed bills and what we had left over to live on.

Our budget was actually FREEING! We could live with peace knowing that every bill was paid, each month and on time. This really helped our FICO score.

We knew how much fun money we had to spend. We could enjoy time with friends and family and not worry about it.

For years I did our budget with an excel spread sheet and it was so much work. I would work on it and then the next day it wouldn’t be correct because of money we had going out. It was frustrating but going to a cash only system didn’t really work for us either. So..we made it work.

But one glorious day, a friend told me about an app call You Need A Budget. It sounded very similar to what I had been doing but in a digital format. I was so excited.

I looked it up online and began watching their videos and some on Youtube as well. What I found was the answer I had been looking for!

I LOVE this program/app. It has changed my budgeting life and I couldn’t be happier!! I wish everyone would use it.

I walk you through step by step how to set up your account with them and give it a try in this post here. {As of Sept. 2017 it’s been shared over 251 times on social media!}
